Based on the golden era of Indian football, ‘Maidaan’ covers the journey of Syed Abdul Rahim, the ex coach of Indian football team who transformed into an Asian powerhouse. This movie is considered to be one of the finest performances from Ajay Devgn by many critics.

Yet, the brilliant focus on Indian football, and the powerful performances were not enough to make this movie a commercial hit. However, it managed to collect only a worldwide total of 65 crores, as compared to a humongous budget of more than 200 crores.

Sadly, this wasn’t the fault of the makers either. ‘Maidaan’ was initially scheduled to release around late 2020. However, the COVID 19 pandemic ruined the game, and further post production delays only added to the agony of both the audience and the makers. By the time it was finally ready for a release, most of the audience had given up. ‘Maidaan’ is one of the rare cases where the film failed just because of bad luck.
