Top 10 Celebrities Who Nailed The Double Role Act Hindi Article

Similar to two sides of a coin, a similar concept used in the entertainment industry is that of double role. Over the past, there are numerous occasions where twins get caught in some weird situations or lookalikes becoming the cause of confusion. Often seen, these kinds of movies have had a good impact on the box office. What more, actors have not backed down from taking on much more complicated tasks such as acting in not one, not two but multiple roles in the same movie. Be it as in old times when Sanjeev Kumar acted in ‘Naya Din Nayi Raat’ or Kamal Haasan in ‘Dashavataram’ or the gorgeous Priyanka Chopra in ‘What’s Your Rashi,’ these actors have not shied away from enacting more than half a dozen characters. Well for your peace of mind, here are 10 celebrities who nailed the double role act in their movies in chronological order of their movie release dates.

1. Hema Malini: Seeta Aur Geeta (1972)

Our very own ‘Dream Girl,’ rocked the screen in "Seeta Aur Geeta.” The film projects Hema Malini in a double role of twins Seeta and Geeta who got separated just after birth and grew up in different situations. As Seeta, she was seen portraying a novel lady whose aunt troubled her all the time. However, her twin Geeta is the complete opposite of her simple and reserved nature. Geeta comes across as a confident, boisterous and brutal person. In both scenarios, without a doubt, she excelled.

2. Amitabh Bachchan: Don (1978)

The "Angry Young Man" of Bollywood passes off with flying colours for the "Don Ko Pakadna Mushkil Hi Nahi, Namumkin Hai" role among goons and crooks and cloaks the role of "Ganga Kinarewala" Vijay to the confuse the cops and remain out of chains in the end. He has done a lot of double and triple roles, but none makes it to the near closeness of matching this fine performance.

3. Salman Khan: Judwaa (1997)

Remaking regional films and then turning them into super hit blockbusters is not new to Salman Khan. And he did quite well a job in taking up the amusing double role in David Dhawan directed remake of Tollywood movie "Hello Brother.” The lads are identical twins separated at birth, but not a pinch alike in their characters. One's a swindling tapori while the other one hails from a pretty impressive and wealthy background. The fun sense of element, as well as the spice adds up to the script when you see both of them feeling whatever the other one feels be it rage, power love or pain at the same instant. The actor shows his natural ability by switching around from being a tapori to the rich guy.

4. Deepika Padukone: Chandni Chowk To China (2009)

Already having played a double role in her launch movie ‘Om Shanti Om,’ Deepika decided to step it up. This action comedy showed her portraying two different genres of characters in the same movie, one of ‘Sakhi’ an ordinary Indian Girl and that of ‘Suzy’ a trained assassin. And what to say, she did her job nicely and pulled off a great acting sequence in the film. Although the movie could not do well on the charts, Deepika’s hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed.

5. Shahid Kapoor: Kaminey (2009)

A crime thriller directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, the setting of the film is in the city of Mumbai while the story revolves around a confusion of identity between the identical twins ‘Guddu’ and ‘Charlie.’ With both bold and romantic songs to add up to the beauty of the film, the show stealer is, of course Shahid’s character which pronounces ‘Suh’ as ‘ Fuh’ creating a lot of humor and interest among the viewers.

6. Akshay Kumar: Rowdy Rathore (2012)

Caught between the dilemma of saving his love and life, Shiva becomes aware of his lookalike Vikram Rathore when the police officer’s six-year old daughter Chinki believes him to be his dad. Being a con and mind you a humorous one, Akshay impersonates the officer and frees a small town from the terror of ‘Baapji’ in his ‘Khiladi’ style. There is no one we know who could have done this well than him. The film was a blockbuster hit too.

7. Arjun Kapoor: Aurangzeb (2013)

Arjun does not take his acting down a notch even once and the result is his career keeps on ascending. The story revolves around the city of Gurgaon, where the identical twins Vishal and Ajay are separated in their childhood when their mother leaves their criminal father. One follows his father footsteps while the other leads a normal life with his single mother. Interesting series of events happen when the latter is used by the police to bring down the former and his syndicate of crimes along with him.

8. Aamir Khan: Dhoom 3 (2014)

With Aamir Khan himself stating that his role in Dhoom 3 has been the toughest challenge yet, we can justify his nailing the act. As ‘Sahir’ an entertainer and ‘Samar,’ his stammering brother unknown to the world outside, he has set a standard for the upcoming double roles in future. Both the characters are played with very much precision. And all said, the film crossed all heights in the charts as well.

9. Kangana Ranaut: Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015)

Known for her glamorous and bold roles, Kangana continued the tradition as being ‘Kusum,’ a Haryanvi athlete studying in the esteemed Delhi University in the sequel of the first part. This time, they are just lookalikes with the same physical characters but no blood relation. Kangana adds in beautifully on the personality of Kusum as she reunites the couple of Tanu and Manu by calling off her marriage. Also to mention, the actor has done a great job in the movie enacting the both the roles to perfection. Hats off to you Kangana!

10. Shahrukh Khan: Fan (2016)

‘King Khan’ has been a heartthrob of Bollywood for nearly two decades now. Gaurav Chandana is a diehard fan of the superstar Aryan Khanna. He has been living his life all along imitating his idol and then avenging his negligence by the former. Overall a spectacular performance by King Khan and the VFX technology seems to be a good use. After viewing the movie, one thing for sure, ‘Shahrukh! Main Tera Jabra Fan Ho Gaya’.
