Top 10 Bollywood Train Sequences

Top 10 Bollywood Train Sequences Hindi Article

1. Dil Se

The movie had Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora Khan swooning on a Sukhwinder Singh number on the top of a train (while it moves). The daring dance number introduced Malaika to the Indian masses and had us singing the song at every party. Not to forget the catchy dance steps that choreographer Farah Khan made these actors do which served as the perfect cherry on the cake.

2. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

No talks about Bollywood train sequences are complete without the mention of this iconic scene from the classic, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. A battered Shah Rukh Khan boards the train back home, leaving his lady love with her father, secretly hoping he realises his love for his daughter and sends her with him. The strict and unmistakably orthodox father holds firm his daughter while she pleads to go with her lover. The audiences are already heartbroken, and as the movie approaches its climax, the father has a change of heart and hallelujah! All is well, and the lovers rush to each other.

3. Chennai Express

Twenty-five years later, Shah Rukh Khan tried to recreate the magic of DDLJ on screen again but with a different actress. In Chennai Express, Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan started their journey where Raj and Simran had left it off. The couple is introduced in the train, and right from the get go is in trouble that joins them at the hip. The movie revolves around their train journey and the bond they establish on the ride. We shouldn’t be surprised that a train journey had such a pivotal role to play in the movie; given the title is CHENNAI EXPRESS!

4. Kick

‘Salman Khan’s Eid blockbuster was packed with powerful punches and top of the line action sequences. But one of the scenes that caught everyone’s attention and even had the star issued a verbal warning to his fans, against trying the stunt was the one where he pedals off in front of a high-speed train. He is on a bicycle, and he speeds it off seeing a train approaching and just as he is about to collude with the train, he effortlessly gets off his cycle and trails off behind the train, unhurt; all of this in a matter of seconds. Unbelievable? Yes! But Khan says he used to do such stunts as a kid, but would advise his fans to not try it.

5. Jab We Met

The movie was a breath of fresh air in romantic comedies. One of the unique aspects of the movie was the journey that the protagonists undertook while getting to know each other. The movie introduces soon-to-be-lovers, on a train journey and the ride takes them to the journey of a lifetime. The narration and impeccably brilliant performances had us glued to the screen, and we kept rooting for the train journey to almost never end.

6. Parineeta

The Darjeeling Toy Train that people are not very well aware of makes its way into one of the song sequences of the movie. With ‘Saif Ali Khan’ singing for most parts, the song is shot in the picturesque North-East of the country and has the train go through lush greens; all the while the actor sings songs of longing for a beloved. The song has a very Tagore style feel to it, and the cinematography doesn’t disappoint at all.

7. Ghulam

Leave it to Aamir Khan to give us goals and standards for things to expect. While his contemporaries were busy shaking legs on train tops, the actor did a leg up and decided to do what nobody thought was possible. He raced against a train. Yes, the movie Ghulam had Aamir run against an enormous and high-speed train, to channel his anger against wrongs being done to him. The actor was praised for his daring and the movie went on to become a Box Office hit.

8. Wanted

Salman is known for his dare devil stunts. His fight sequences are always on point. So when he signed up for a romantic action movie like Wanted, audiences expected big things from the actor. He didn’t disappoint. This time he took his fight into a train. The fight sequence is very well choreographed and with a bitter ending for one of the goons, the entire scene just won our hearts.

9. Ishaqzaade

After so many years of immortalising trains in Bollywood, the producers of Ishaqzaade thought to themselves, what has not been done in a Bollywood train and Voila, they had their answer; a love scene. The movie had its two main protagonists run off and marry each other due to religious differences. A couple who elopes has troubles finding a shack to consummate their love. That is where an old and unused railway track comes in handy. Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor shot a love making scene in a train. There are things that only Bollywood can pull off. This being one of them!

10. The Burning Train

The movie was far ahead of its time, and as far as train sequences are concerned, the movie was almost entirely shot on a train. There are more than a few scenes that left audiences mesmerised and had us wanting more. Be it the climb from the door to the top of a train using ropes made out of cloth or the air-class services offered to train passengers or just the usual milieu of a train journey that passengers thought would turn out to be the ride of their lives. Everything about the movie was well thought out and executed to brilliance.
