1. Kedarnath

The film Kedarnath shows the 2013’s Uttarakhand flood but the characters are not real as the incident Mansoor is a Muslim porter who falls in love with Mukku, a Hindu priest’s daughter. The film also shows some real footage of the disaster. The lovers are divided by their religions. She journeys to Kedarnath temple with his help. They fight for their love as the Kedarnath flood hits. The film’s natural disaster is realistically depicted. The huge cloudburst is also shown. Mukku and her father take refuge in the temple. Verma is a young man who is the supervisor at the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal. He ignores everyone’s warnings. Bashir has resigned due to unsafe working conditions. Verma decides to remain there and is riding a train to Bhopal. Eventually, Bashir’s words come true. Verma fights to save his wife, Tara’s life. Several people die in the gas tragedy leaving no choice.

6. Bhopal A Prayer For Rain

The film Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain is based on the Bhopal disaster that took place in 1984 in Bhopal, India. Dilip is a laborer in a nearby plant where he lives in the slum. The safety officer of the plant raises concern but the officials ignore him. Resulting in the leakage of methyl isocyanate from a pipe, the officials hold the workers responsible. They even turned off safety measures to reduce costs. To overcome the loss, the plant is shut down and workers are fired. The leakage occurs and several people start dying from exposure to the toxic gases leading to cyanide poisoning.

7. Oh My God

The film Oh My God is about an atheist named Kanji Lalji Mehta. He is a middle-class Gujarati man, who lives in Mumbai. He owns a shop and sells Hindu idols. He opposes all religious works and rules. One day an earthquake hits the city. Only his shop is destroyed. He goes to the insurance office to claim for damage but under the Act of God, disasters caused by natural calamities, money cannot be reclaimed. He decides to sue God. One by one all bad things happen to him including his family leaving him. Then he is rescued by Lord Krishna.

8. Do Bigha Zameen

The film Do Bigha Zameen is about a village, which is hit by drought. After several years of famine, the area finally gets rain. The farmers rejoice. Shambhu is the protagonist of the film. He owns a land of two bighas. It is the only means of livelihood for his family. He is in debt already as he has borrowed money from a rich man named Harnam Singh. He asks him to sell his land to pay his debt. He does not want to sell his land. He sells all his items that are household. Later, Shambhu could not pay his loan and his land is auctioned.

9. Waqt

The film Waqt is about a family who separates as a result of an earthquake. A man named Lela Kedarnath Prasanta lives with his family, consisting of his wife and three sons. He is proud of his wealth and still wants to make more money. An astrologer warns him not to be proud as time can change anybody. But he ignores his words. One day, an earthquake hits and destroys the city. He gets unconscious. He wakes up to see his wife and sons are missing. They start living a separate life. Later, after a series of incidents, the family again reunites.

10. Kaala Patthar

The film Kaala Patthar is about a man named Vijay Pal Singh. He is a Navy officer, who risks the lives of three hundred passengers and is punished for that. Now guilty, he works as a coal miner. He befriends the engineer of the mines named Ravi. The boss of the coal mine gives the worker poor equipment and no medical supplies. They move ahead to fight for justice. One day, water floods the mines and all the workers are trapped underground. But Vijay along with his companions succeeds in saving the workers.
