1. Gandhi, My Father

This movie tells us the story of the broken relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and his son Harilal Gandhi. The movie was made from the biography of Harilal Gandhi, which was written by Chandulal Bhagubhai Dalal. The movie was released on third of August 2007. The movie goes with the elaborate description of the problems faced by Harilal Gandhi, as he chose to move away from his father in need of discovering his true potential in what he believed. The problem began as the father and the son have future dreams, which are merely opposite of each other’s ideas. Mahatma Gandhi wanted his son to follow his footsteps and to support his journey; however, Harilal Gandhi wanted to be a lawyer like his father. In addition, Harilal Gandhi wanted to move abroad to continue his further studies.

When the father refuses to grant permission to his son, the son decided to leave his father and walk towards fulfilling his own dream. However, Harilal Gandhi fails thrice in his studies and could not be successful in his field. He tries again, but the fortune of luck never reaches his side. As the final weapon, Harilal begins his drinking habit and soon it becomes his addiction. He passes away in search of wealth to thrive and a way of reaching his dream.

In the process of self-destructive phase with alcohol addiction, he loses his wife Gulab.

This phenomenal biography was honoured with a number of national awards in 2008, Zee cine awards in 2008, IIFA awards, 2008 for the best art direction and many others.
