Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was born in Wazirabad, Punjab (present day- Pakistan) on 23 September 1915. He was an Indian lyricist, poet and writer. He started his career as an editorial staff in Urdu magazines named as Phool, and Tehzeeb-e-Niswan which published from Lahore. After the partition of India and Pakistan, he decided to stay in India with his wife, Tahira. Soon he became a renowned name of Indian film industry and gave many notable performances for Indian cinema. Sadly, he was not able to serve the Indian Film Industry for a much longer time as he died at just the age of 50 on 29 July 1966.
