Attiya Dawood is a feminist, activist, and writer from Sindh. She was born in Moledino Larik. Attiya has a Master of Arts in Sindhi Literature. In the village of Moledino Larik in Naushero Feroze, she was born. Through her poems, Attiya draws attention to how women are treated unfairly in Sindhi society because it is considered to be the norm. She started poetry in 1980. Attiya's family relocated to Karachi in the 1970s, when she enrolled in a college. She faced significant social and financial difficulties at this time and was forced to work at a towel factory to cover costs. When her friend Rupa introduced her to Ahmed Saleem, she began to write poems. She then joined Sindhi Adabi Sangat as a result. She has been consistently producing poetry since the 1980s. When Attiya started contributing to a local journal in the 1980s, her career as a poet officially began. When Attiya was in the eighth grade, she had her first poem published.
When Attiya Dawood, formerly Attiya Larik, published her first poetry in a Sindhi-language publication in the early 1970s, she legally changed her name to Dawood. She changed the name from Larik, which was her brother's name, to Dawood, which was her father's name as vengeance. She is married to Khuda Baksh Abro and had two daughters with him. She has consistently contributed to Sartiyun, the women's section of Hilal e Pakistan. She has also contributed to workshops and seminars by producing papers in Sindhi on topics like folk artists and men of literature. Her six novels have been published, and major national dailies and literary publications have carried her pieces on gender issues, peace, and justice.
She has also been discussing women's issues on radio programs. She worked at a federal agency as well. Attiya's first collection of poetry, titled "Raging to be free," was published in 1995. It contained English translations of her Sindhi poems. Since then, she has produced a little collection of poems that has received praise from other authors and poets.
