Manisha Satyavolu is an art director and playback singer who works predominantly in the Telugu film industry. She is known for her production design work in the movie Meeku Meere Maaku Meme (2016). Her father is a scientist, and her mother is a teacher. Manisha is a United Nations Development Program enthusiast. She is an aspiring philanthropist & educationist too. She sometimes writes a poem. Manisha decided to pursue a production designer career when she was seventeen years old.
She got into an architecture college as she felt it was close to production design. She did not know anybody in the film industry. She decided and joined a theatre where she had to design the sets for the show. She was able to experiment with a lot of her ideas in theatre sets. She did not know film production designs and had to learn everything by herself. In an interview, she mentioned that she never went to a party during her college days. Her routine was to go to college and got to the theatre sets every day.
She got an opportunity to work on a commercial as an art director with the help of some connection in the theatre she worked. She used to lie to her mother that she had a special class to work on the commercials during college days. Manisha went on to work more than twenty-five commercials and landed an offer to work in a web series. In her initial days, as a junior art director, for feature films, she did not get paid for her work or even credit for it. The art director, she was working for did not pay her for more than six films. She eventually quit working for him. Manisha always had a five-year plan.
She intended to work alongside renowned production designers before going solo. After that, she worked as an associate production designer for the film ‘Mahanati. Manisha supports feminism. She has even opted out of a movie since she noticed the story of the movie to be chauvinistic. She worked on the Telegu remake of the Hindi hit film ‘2 States’. When seventy percent of the film work was over, it got shelved for some reason. She took a sabbatical and now works on multiple projects.
