Ranjit Desai is an Indian novelist, playwright, and short story writer, born on 8 April 1928 in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. He is a writer known for his brilliant contributions to Marathi literature. He has written novels such as Radheya, Swami, Shriman Yogi, Baari, Raja Ravi Varma, Pavankhind, Lakshavedh, Shekara, Pratiksha, Abhogi, and Samidha. He is known for writing many short stories and plays such as Roop Mahal, Madhumati, Jaan, Kanav, Gandhali, Aalekh, Kamodini, Morpankhi Sawalya, Katal, Babulmora, Sanket, Kanchan Mrug, Dhan Apure, Pankh Zale Vairi, Swar Samrat Tansen, Garud Zep, Ram Shashtri, Shriman Yogi and Swami respectively.
