Pushpa Anand is a Marathi singer. She was born into a philanthropic family in Chennai. She is a devotee of His Holiness Swami Haridoss Giri who had started the Bhakti Cult. She has an M.A. in Music and comes from a music-loving family where music holds a central position. She has had the rare chance of growing up among music connoisseurs and has been devoted to learning classical Carnatic music and the Marathi Abhang form of music. The latter is her strong side and she loves the Abhang form with her heart and soul. She learned the basics of vocal music from Shri Muthu Natesa Bagavathar from a very young age.
He was her first guru from whom she learnt Classical Carnatic music too. Then she learned it from Shri P.S. Thiagarajan. The guruji H.H Haridoss Giri put her under the concern of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. M.L Vasanthakumari. In Carnatic Music, Pushpa is a grade-level artist of All India Radio. Her renditions have received acclaim from her childhood. She has travelled all over India and sung in several sabhas, ceremonies and gatherings. She is a pro in handling ragas with aptness. Pushpa Anand is the first woman artist to give a complete 2-hour concert of full Abhangs where she sang with finesse and flawless composure. Her renderings were appreciated for their original style unmixed with Classical Carnatic Music. In other forms of music, she has worked in the advertising world in several jingles for companies like Ponds, Clinic shampoo, Spinz, Rajan sarees, Prince Jewellery etc.
She has worked to create fusion music also by creating an album called Mangalam released by Magna Sound which was liked widely. She has sung for Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies. She is also a talented dancer and has learned Bharatanatyam from Smt. Krishna Kumari Narendran and Sri Udupi Lakshminarayanan. She has taken part in several dance dramas like Gyaneshwar playing the role of Muktha Bai, role of Lakshmi in Purandaradasar, role of Sangili Nachiar in Sundaramurthy Nayanar, role of Seetha in Ramayanam and role of Bhama in Bhama Vijayam Bhama Vijayam, was an another serial, dubbed from >> Read More... .
