Kishori Pednekar, full name Kishori Kishore Pednekar, was born on 25 December 1962 in a mill worker's house at Worli Naka, Mumbai. She resides in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She is a part of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) party as the Deputy Leader and Spokesperson. Her husband's name is Kishor Pednekar. She has a son named SaiPrasad Pednekar. She passed 10th in 1979 from Babasaheb Ambedkar High School, Worli, Mumbai.

She joined Shiv Sena's women's wing after her marriage in 1992. She took up the job as a full-time nurse in 1992 and was given the Raigad and Sindhudurg districts in western Maharashtra by the Shiv Sena. She has also worked as a nurse at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust Hospital in Mumbai between 1993 and 2002. She was elected a Corporator in (BMC) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (Ward No. 52), the lower Parel area of Mumbai, in 2002. She returned as a Corporator in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (Ward No. 191) in 2012 and again appointed a Corporator for Ward 199 in 2017.

She was the first mayor of Mumbai elected with no opponent candidates in the final 88 years of Mumbai's mayor's election historical past. She became the 77th Mayor of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in 2019. She motivated the nursing students who got involved in the fight against the COVID pandemic as per the instructions of BMC by donning her nurse's uniform. She was awarded the Newsmakers Achievers Award in 2022.
