Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh (born on March 21, 1976) is an Indian politician who works under the Indian National Congress. He is the elder son of Vilasrao Deshmukh, a veteran politician. He was elected as a member of the Maharashtra State Assembly thrice. He is the National Secretary of the  All India Congress Committee and the Guardian Minister of the Latur District. Amit Deshmukh worked from the grassroots and actively participated in the 1997 Latur Nagar Parishad elections at 21 and campaigned for Shivraj Patil in the 1999 Lok Sabha election. In 2002 and 2008 he was the Vice President of the Youth Congress. In 2009, Amit Deshmukh contested from Latur and won the election, beating Kayum Khan Mohammad Khan Patan of the Bahujan Samaj Party and Shiv Sena's Shripad Kurkarni in a margin of 89,480 votes. It was the fourth biggest victory in Maharashtra. In December 2019, Deshmukh became a cabinet minister in the Maharashtra State Assembly. He is the guardian of the Latur district. He is married to actress Aditi Pratap.
