E. Santhosh Kumar

E. Santhosh Kumar is a Malayalam writer born in Patikad, Thrissur, Kerala, India, in 1969. He has won numerous awards, including the Kerala Sahitya Academy. His Andhakaranazhi, published in 2012 and winner of the 2012 Kerala Sahitya Akademi Novel Award, is considered one of his best works. He studied at Government High School in Patikad, Sri Kerala Varma College in Thrissur, and St Thomas' College in Thrissur. He worked for the National Insurance Company from 1990 to 2020 for over 30 years. Galapagos, later published as a collection, was his first published short story. In 2006, he won his first Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for his collection of short stories, Chavukali.In 2012, he received his second Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel Andhakaranazhi.

His work includes two full-length novels, six short stories, and over 60 short stories. Critics often refer to Anhakaranji as his major work. In his first novel, Amusement Park, Santosh explores the lives of two disabled people against the backdrop of globalization's tentacles. Critic K. Prasananrajan describes another novel by Santhosh Kumar, Vakkukal (Words), as a work of philosophical dimension. His notable works are Amusement Park (2002), Vaakkukal (2007), Kaakkaradesathe Urumbukal (2009), Andhakaranazhi (2011), Island of Lost Shadows (English translation of Andhakaranazhi) 2015, Jnanabharam (2020).
