Lathika

Lathika is an Indian famous Malayalam playback singer and Carnatic musician. She was born on July 27, 1963. Her place of birth is Kollam, India. Lathika is now serving as a lecturer in music at the Swathi Thirunal College of Music in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. She has been working as Assistant Professor in the college.

She is a famous South Indian playback singer and gave her voice predominantly for Malayalam and Tamil films songs for over three hundred films. She acknowledged for her singing for films in the late 1980s and early 1990s in the Malayalam industry. She marked her debut at sixteen years old, where she sang the Malayalam duet alongside K. J. She has sung playback for several songs and was a celebrity on the ganamela circuit in and around Kollam and Tamil Nadu. She has also given notable hits working aside from famous Malayalam film director, Bharathan. After that, she started to recognised in the music industry.

Her evergreen hits of Malayalam 1980s includes the title track of Kathodu Kathoram, ‘Pon Pularoli..’ of Ithiri poove chuvanna poove (1984), ‘Dum dum dum’ of Vaisali, ‘Tharum thalirum’ of Chilampu, ‘Oru Nimisham Tharu’ of Sarvakalasaala, ‘Melle Melle’ of Oru Minnaminunginte Nurunguvettam, and many more. In 2007, Lathika sang in horror romantic Malayalam film Subhadram, directed by Sreelal Devaraj. The film was a big hit at the theatre. She sang the song “Athiraliyum Karakaviyum” in the comedy Malayalam movie Guppy in the year 2016. In 2021, she acted in the Tamil comedy short drama Mind Voice, starring Adhil Irfan, Deva Kumar, and Lathika.
