Palghat Mani Iyer was one of the most famous males leading mridangists in the field of Carnatic music. He was born on June 12th, 1912, in Pazhayyanur, Kerala. He held expertise in Indian Classical. He was a Mridangam Artist. He learned his music from his parents in his native language of Pazhayyanur. He first performed at the age of 10, at a harikatha when the mridangam player did not come to the function, so then he was the one to play the mridangam.
He came into fame 1n 1924 after he accompanied Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavahar in a music concert at Jagannatha Bhakta Sabha in Chennai. He was also known as the guru for mridangam players such as Palghat R. Raghu-, Late Mavelikkara Velukutty Nair-, etc. Palghat R. Raghu is considered a disciple of Mani Iyer, who describes his guru as a genius. He had a very conceivable mood and tempo. His consistent excellence brought many of his followers together. He was also noted as the father of the noted artists.
