Sathish Kalathil

The south Indian origin, known screenwriter cum lyricist Sathish Kalathil is a native of the state Kerala born in the year 1971. He spent most of his life in and around the city Thrissur, and his primary education was from the nearby town Thrissur. During his teen, he worked as a newspaper agent for a newly launched company called “Mangalam Daily.” His documentary films and literary profession started in 2000 while working with the news magazine named ‘Prathibhavam.’  All his works are structured and deep-rooted in his mother tongue, Malayalam, and Kerala culture. Throughout the time of 2008, he had a hike in his career where he penned his first and last song for the documentary film Veenaavaadanam also; he was the scriptwriter for the same documentary film.

He had more and more interest in the field of film and writing. Since his adolescent age, he was very keen on writing poems, and he has many poems written with the pen name ‘ Surya Serial story coming soon... >> Read More... .’  His constant poem writing led him to write a song in 2008. To keep life moving, he did side jobs like rickshaw driver, fast food businessman, etc. In the period 2010, during the time he was a businessman, he made his movie Jalachhayam where he produced and directed for the same. Realizing his interest in movies he started a trust for Digital filmmakers film maker’s forum (D.F.M.F). He also initiated a digital film festival in Thrissur and other parts of Kerala.

This experimentation was very innovative and led him to opportunities. The intention of forming the forum was to encourage more and more digital films and filmmakers. In 2013, he wrote a novel named ‘Laloorinu Parayanullathu’ (What has laloor to say), and the same was produced into a film. The novel is about how throwing away the municipal garbage of Thrissur affects the lives of people at Laloor. Sathish was also a politically active person since a teenager, and now he is secretary of the Nationalist labor party. His personal life is very simple, he is married to K.P Rema, and he has three children Niveda, Navin, and Akhil.
