Surya is a Tamil series that started airing on Sun TV in 2006. It went off air in 2007.

Surya is a journalist. She worked for Channel 3, a popular channel, but has now quit the job. She lives with her mother, Maragatham and two younger sisters, Archana and Aishwarya. As her husband was a suspect in a murder case, Maragatham sent him out and cared for her children as a single parent for 18+ years. However, she knows that her husband is innocent. Surya’s friend Nandini is arrested for a drug case. Nandini’s mother seeks Surya’s help to get her daughter out of trouble. As Nandini was in love with Ugramoorthy, a politician, his wife, Swarna, took revenge on her. Surya’s marriage is fixed to Ravi, a police officer. When she informs Ravi about Nandini’s problems, he assures to help her, and suggests her rejoin Channel 3. Surya and Ravi tried to sort out the issues and managed to send Swarna to jail, as her husband made an open statement about her torture.

Archana loves Shakuntala’s son Ashok. Ashok is afraid to tell his love for Archana to his mom. Shakuntala learns that Archana is the daughter of the person who killed her husband. It is revealed that Ashok and Ravi are stepbrothers. In a turn of events, it is revealed that Ashok’s father is not dead. What happens next? Why is Surya’s father hiding?
