Lekshmi Nair

Lekshmi Nair is an anchor, newsreader, and chef from Kerala; she is a rank-holder in Bachelor of Arts in History at Government Women’s College, Trivandrum, and did her Masters of Arts in History from S.V. University, Tirupathi. After that, she studied LLB, LLM, and Ph.D. from Kerala Law Academy, University of Kerala, and published many law articles in Academy Law Review. Moreover, Lekshmi Nair worked as a newsreader at Doordarshan from 1980 to 1988. In 2007, she became the Professor of the Kerala Law Academy, and later, she became the Principle of Kerala Law Academy in Trivandrum.

Though she is from a Law background, the world got to know her through her cooking shows as she was always passionate about cooking and experimenting with new dishes. She went to Chennai to do a crash course in cooking to advance her cooking skills in Thai style and got popular after hosting the cooking show ‘ Magic Oven Magic Oven is a cooking based show in the Malayala >> Read More... ,’ aired on Kairali TV. It gained more attention and captured the audience's heart where she cooked all the dishes from traditional to international. After the show ‘Magic Oven,’ she launched a new travelogue named ‘Flavours of India’ that showed the food, culture, and lifestyle of different states in India; in 2013, she launched another show, ‘Flavours of Malaysia’, which concentrated on the food and lifestyle of Malaysia. She presented a classy show and has traveled to many states for the shows. She hosted the cooking competition show ‘Pachakarani’ on Kairali TV, later stopped after the new show ‘Kitchen Magic.’

She has also published her book, a collection of all the recipes presented in the ‘Magic Oven’ show; the kindle version of that book is also available. She says that cooking is the best investment in life and has a Youtube channel named ‘Lekshmi Nair Vlogs,’ with more than one million subscribers; she attracts the youngsters by cooking unique dishes. Being a graduate of LLB, the most frequent question she has been asked was why she chose cooking. She replies that she has always been passionate about cooking since childhood and had started to cook when she was in school, and cooking books always caught her interest. This interest encouraged her to make her passion her profession.

In the age of delivering food to the doorstep, she encourages people to go to the kitchen and enjoy the process of cooking, which will taste a thousand times better than any ordered food. She says that cooking is not an easy task, and it cannot be taught; it comes with practice, and she encourages more people to choose the culinary field.
