Kim So-Hyun, born on 4th June 1999, is a South Korean actress, model, and anchor. She was born in Australia but has acquired South Korean citizenship. Kim Ji-Yeon is her mother, while Kim So-Hyun's father passed away in her childhood. She also has a younger brother. Kim So-Hyun's family moved from Australia to South Korea when she was a child. She started her career as a child artist when she was seven but got her breakthrough in 2012. Kim So-Hyun enrolled in the Theater and Film department of Hanyang University, Seoul, South Korea, in 2017. She opted for homeschooling to prepare for the high school exam and cleared the same in August 2017. Kim So-Hyun made her debut with a minor appearance in the 2007 KBS television series Drama City. From 2007 to early 2012, she played the youthful characters of the protagonist in eight television series.

Her rise to popularity is attributed to her appearance as young Yoon Bo-Kyung in the 2012 MBS series Moon Embracing The Sun. Kim So-Hyun was selected to play pivotal teenage roles for several mainstream drama series such as Rooftop Prince (2012), I Can Hear Your Voice (2013), and Iris II: New Generation (2013). After making a cameo appearance in the hit 2015 drama A Girl Who Sees Smell, Kim So-Hyun got her first leading role as an actress in 2015. She played a double role in the KBS drama Who Are You: School 2015 opposite Nam Joo-hyuk and Yook Sung-Jae. The teenage drama brought her wider recognition, which got her second drama as a lead in the 2016 webtoon-adaptation drama Bring It On, Ghost. Kim So-Hyun starred in this tvN drama alongside notable actors like Ok Taec-yeon, Choi Ji-na, and Kwon Yul. Kim So-Hyun's fame skyrocketed when she made a cameo in the 2016 tvN series Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, one of the most popular Korean dramas of all time.

Kim So-Hyun's next cameo appearance was in the 2017 Lee Jong-suk, Suzy Bae, and Jung Hae-in starrer drama, While You Were Sleeping. The SBS drama was well-received by the audience and became one of the most famous series of 2017. From 2018 to 2021, she appeared in leading roles in four well-known dramas and web series- Radio romance (2018), The Tale of Nokdu (2019), Love Alarm Season 1 and 2 (2019 to 2021), and River Where The Moon Rises (2021). Kim So-Hyun received the KBS Female Excellence Award in Miniseries for her role in The Tale of Nokdu. Apart from TV and web series, she featured in eight movies, three variety shows, one musical, and three music videos. Kim So-Hyun sang four OSTs (original soundtracks) for four separate TV dramas.

Her debut movie is the 2010 Woo Min-ho directorial Man of Vendetta. The 2016 Hur Jin-ho directorial movie Princess Deokhye is her latest movie release. Kim So-Hyun is also a known anchor of various reality shows. She began her career as a Master of Ceremonies or MC in 2013 with the MBC musical program Show! Music Core. From 2018 to 2019, she was the MC of the MBC survival show Under 19 and hosted the Seoul Music Awards twice. After taking a break for two years, Kim So-Hyun returned to anchoring with the 2021 KBS Drama Awards. Kim So-Hyun likes to play Nintendo and Animal Crossing. Her hobbies include playing badminton, preparing for fan meet-ups, and dancing. She is currently part of the entertainment agency Culture Depot.
