Lee Young-ae (이영애)) is one of the most beautiful and elegant Korean actresses and models. She was born in Seoul, South Korea, on January 31, 1971. She has done her education at Chung-Ang University and Hanyang University. She began modeling in 1991 and appeared in TV commercials. Later on, she debuted in the drama ‘How’s My Husband?’ in 1993, for which she received the best new actress award at the SBS drama awards. After that, in June 2000, she acted in the popular thriller Secretary Area and the melodrama The Last Present. 

Later on, she appeared in the Hur Jin-ho movie ‘One Fine Spring Day,’ in which she was honored with the Best Actress award by the Busan Film Critics. Not just that, she also attained fame in Taiwan for her incredible acting in the series ‘Fireworks’. She has been featured in many wonderful dramas, between 1993 and 2000, which include Invitation, Romance, Love, Marriage, and many others in which she has done exceptionally well to be given scores of praise.

In 2003–2004, she started a drama called “Dae Jang Geum," through which she gained popularity in South Korea, and even the drama overshadowed the response in terms of TRP and was appreciated in Asian countries. Also, she successfully received the Daesang or Grand Prize, award at the MBC Drama Awards. In 2005, she used her acting skills in ‘Sympathy for Lady Vengeance’, where she acted as a vengeful single mother and received the Best Actress award at well-known festivals and awards.

For her talented contribution to the Korean wave, Lee was awarded, in 2007, the Order of Culture Merit from the Republic of Korea government. In 2017, she featured in ‘Saimdang, Memoir of Colors’ in which she played two roles: Shin Saimdang, a great figure of the Joseon Dynasty as a painter and calligrapher and a contemporary Korean history teacher in the present time, and in the same year 2018, she did ‘Bring Me Home.’ In 2022, the Busan International Film Festival selected her as a jury member, and in 2023, she returned with the series "Maestra: Strings of Truth." She played Cha Se-Eum, a world-renowned orchestra conductor, hiding a significant and dangerous secret.
