Zama Habib is an Indian Screenwriter, Director and Producer. His birth name is MD Badiuzzaman. He changed his name for the industry as his real name was too long. He is also known as Zaman Habib. He started working in the industry in the year 1994. He is based out of the Indian city of Mumbai. He is known to be an Indian Television Writer and has given many hit shows from his pen. He originally hails from the town of Madhubani in the Indian state of Bihar. He spent his childhood in the metropolitian city of the Indian state of West Bengal.

He completed his schooling from Kolkata’s Presidency Muslim High School. He completed his intermediate from the Maulana Azad College in Kolkata. He then joined Aligarh Muslim University to graduate. From the University, he did his BA (Hons) in English Literature, followed by Masters in the same subject. During his college days, he used to write, act and direct in numerous plays. His debut play was Batwara and was staged in the year 1988 in Kolkata’s Kala Mandir. Chaddi Pahan Ke Phool Khila Hai and Janta Express are some of the plays he wrote. He has also translated English plays of writers like Anton Chekhov.

He published his translation of Urdu plays Aadhi Raat Ka Suraj in the year 1992. Zama is a prominent poet in Urdu Literature. His works can often be seen in Urdu Literary Magazines. In the year 1993, he left his research venture midway and shifted to Delhi. Furthermore, he became a radio artist. He wrote and acted in serials and plays on the radio. He also presented and anchored for some popular shows like Adaab Arz Hai, Only for Broken Hearts and Zero Hour. After spending some time in Delhi, he moved to Mumbai where he received appreciation for his work from director and actor Sachin Pilgaonkar.

These rewards helped him garner his first few initial projects, and later his work spoke for his excellence. Many major Hindi TV shows are written by Zama Babu. Zama has penned about 5000 episodes from both Bengali and Hindi TV series.
