Moin-ud-din was an Indian Hindi screenwriter, story writer, and dialogue writer. He was born on 19 October 1943 in Kurnool, a small town in Andhra Pradesh, India. He was the fourth child of Shroff Abdul Kareem, a gold and diamond trader of British India who later became the city councilor. He did his schooling at Government Urdu High School for Boys and graduated from SV University with a Bachelor of Arts in Urdu. For Post-Graduation he enrolled himself in Andhra University in the Master of Arts Program with Urdu as his major but dropped out due to his busy schedule.
He was fluent in Urdu, Hindi, English, and Persian. He made Qamar Dawood Ali her life partner in 1989, who later changed her name to Afzal Moinuddin. Aminuddin Shroff was their only son who is currently residing in Hyderabad. Moin-ud-din was one of the best and most stunning dialogue and screenwriters of his time. Some of his best-known works are in films like Thodi si Bewafaii (1980), Bulundi (1981), Ahista Ahista (1981), Dil...Akhir Dil Hai (1982), Jhuta Sach (1984), Pighalta Aasman (1985), Love 86 (1986), Suryaa: An Awakening (1989), Police Pubic (1990), Zid (1994), God and Gun (1995), and Tarkieb (2000). Besides, his successful movie career he also owned tobacco estates near Kurnool. He spent his life in Kurnool with trips to Mumbai for the publishing of his work. He died at the age of 57 on 5 April 2001 due to a cardiac arrest in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, India.
