Vishnu Namboothiri is a vocalist, and his complete name is Vishnudev Namboothiri. He is a known Carnatic musician who left his IT job to become a musician and calls his “step” the liberating step of his life. He was born in Angamaly, Kerala and received the honour from ‘All India Radio A grade’ in 2011. The following year, Vishnu Namboothiri won the contest of Carnatic Music Idol on Jaya TV. It was probably the first Carnatic show on national television in which Vishnu stood first and won the trophy. Receiving the trophy prompted him to become a full-time Carnatic musician and leave the IT job for a lifetime.
When he was small, he would travel with his father to Kutcher in the cities like Ernakulam and Thrissur and listen to music. At nine, Vishnu Namboothiri started learning music under the guidance of his aunt, Kavitha Shiboo, and his teacher, Alli Harivishnu. He then received his official training from Chandramana Narayanan Namboothiri. He was only 12 when he started learning the music from Chandramana Narayanan Namboothiri. Since 2007, he has been learning and practising Carnatic music with Neyveli Santhanagopalan and then S Narayanaswamy. Vishnu Namboothiri attends concerts and music events with his gurus. He and his gurus have travelled to venues in the US, the UK, Ireland and India across major metros. Vishnu Namboothiri sang the song Chaliye Kunjanamo (the Carnatic musical song) at Perumchellur Sangeetha Sabha in 2021.
