Thou Mangang

Thou Mangang is a visual effects artist and animator who works in the Bollywood film industry. Born in Manipur, Thou was fascinated with animation visual effects since his childhood, as he grew up watching various animated Hollywood movies. In 2002, Thou got his diploma in Electronics Engineering from the Centre for Electronics and Design Technology India, he decided to pursue VFX artistry and got into Maya Academics of Advanced Cinematics.

In 2003, he started working for Prasar Bharti Broadcasting Corporation of India in Imphal. After working there for about a year, Thou decided to take a break and master his skills of animation. In 2007, he worked with Radient Animation as a 2D Layout Artist. At Radient, Thou got to work on his first movie which was the animated ‘My Friend Ganesha’. This was a kids' movie, which was partly an animation and partly a realistic film, in which Thou worked on the layout of the animated characters. In 2008, he joined Prime Focus Studios as a texture artist. His project at Prime Focus Studios was Tashan, where he worked as the chief texture artist. This was a story about a boy who travels to the future to save his girlfriend. Even though the movie absolutely bombed on the box-office, and was also ripped apart by the critics, this still remains one of Bollywood’s most ambitious projects which Thou Mangang was a part of. He also worked on Chandini Chowk To China starring Akshay Kumar, where we saw some of the best action sequences created by visual effects.

He was later hired by EyeQube Studios as their senior texture artist.
