Sumaira Shaikh is a well known comic artist and writer whose work has featured in some of India’s most acclaimed entertainment platforms. Her acts captivate crowds with their strong hint of dark humor and underlying deadpan tones. Sumaira was born and raised in Dongri.
A typical Mumbaikar, she used the hub of popular culture to draw inspiration from around her and add material to her shows. She trained as a psychologist to be a professional counselor but switched interests when she came across the works of contemporary Indian stand up artists.
She quickly moved from being a part of the audience to getting up on the stage to perform at the Canvas Laugh Club. Her performance at open mics got her talents recognized by the comedy group, ‘All India Bakchod (AIB),’ who invited her to work with them.
