Born in New Delhi on 17th March, 1981, Sumit Vats is best known for playing the lead role of Rishi in
Hitler Didi
on Zee TV, also starring
Rati Pandey
. His debut however, was as a police officer in Surya The Super Cop, followed by
Mukti Bandhan
with the role of Chirag.
He completed his masters (majoring in journalism) from Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, and also participated in theatre, singing and dancing. He aspired to be an actor from the time he was a child. Growing up, he was very athletic, and loved riding his bike, football, cricket, hockey, and volleyball. He prefers emotic character roles to comic ones, and has always enjoyed watching, and reading plays and books.
His acting debut started with the role of Dwarak in Kashi on NDTV Imagine, followed by 12/24 Karol Bagh. He then played the protagonist of Rishi Kumar/Diwan Chandila in Hitler Didi. For this he won the Favourite Nayi Jodi Award in Zee Rishtey along with Rati Pandey. 'Hitler Didi' was about a very strict and stringent woman (Indira Sharma) whose responsibilities and burdens revolve around taking care of her family, and paying the bills, due to which her life has become very monotonous. However her new tenant Rishi Kumar (played by Sumit Vats) rides in to save the day, and brightens up her life. He manages to help her out tricky situations and becomes a kind friend, and provides a listening ear.
Sumit is currently very busy in shaping his career, and hasn’t shown much interest in dating anyone at the moment. He is a foodie and loves Kulchey and choley and pain puri. He also has a great sweet tooth. He can never say no to ice cream, Rabdi and Rajhbog.
