Shyam Masalkar worked as an artist in many serials. He played a key role in Aaj Ki Housewife Hai…Sab Jaanti Hai.  It is directed by Gulshan Sachdeva. The first episode of this serial was started on 31 December 2012. Its last episode is broadcast on 23 August 2013. A major part of the shooting was done in Allahabad. It consists of total 170 episodes. Most of his serials are of 'comedy' genre. 

Shyam Masalkar even acted in some advertisements like Qwik. He even acted in Orient fans ad along with Mahender Singh Dhoni. Shyam attended Star Parivaar Awards in 2012 and told that as the carpet is red, he is also dressed in red, and even we all are as powerful as red. He told that love is life and expressed his intention of marriage to the media in Star Parivaar Awards. He publicly declared that marriage sets a limit to our life. Hence, he doesn’t want to marry now itself and wants to love and live.
