She studied BA (Hons.) at Delhi University and studied sound recording and sound designing at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Shalini was provided sound seminars at the 14th Asian Women's Film Festival in 2018. Shalini Agarwal was chosen to participate in the Berlinale Talents Sound Studio program at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival. Along with playing the guitar, didgeridoo, and harmonica, Shalini also sings. Shalini Agarwal's works include Kyoyang Ngarmo, Widow of Silence, and Raabta (2017), among others.
