Mehnaz Hoosein (born 30 January 1973) is a pop singer and songwriter. She is a native of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Mehnaz received her graduation from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. At the age of 13, she began receiving her training for singing in Hindustani Classical music under the guidance of Pandit Bhavdeep Jaipurwale. Mehnaz then started her training with Shiamak Davar in 1988. She then began her performances with the Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts until 1995. She received limelight with the song, Miss India, which led her to win the 1996 Channel V Music Award for Best Female Pop Vocalist. She is popularly known for her hit songs like 'Banoongi Main Miss India,' Mausam, Sajnaa, Hi, Silence, etc.
