Boby Techi is a singer-songwriter and actor from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, India. She was born on January 9, 1990, the daughter of an engineer. She is the second of five children. Techi was born into the Donyi-Polo tribe. She grew up in Arunachal Pradesh, where she attended Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan and competed in several talent shows. Mandy Moore's 'Cry' was the first song she sang on stage. Techi has acknowledged Sharon Van Etten, Mindy Gledhill, Megan Washington, Stars, Daughter, and others as key influences on her love and enthusiasm for music.
Boby Techi received her university education from Gargi College, University of Delhi. She was crowned LG SONGSTAR of the Year at the 2013 K-Pop India Contest.Techi had previously worked as the main vocalist of The Vinyl Records. Techi has explored acting in addition to her singing career. Stranger in My Land was her feature film debut in 2014.Techi travelled with the Korean pop-rock band BIURET on their first visit to India before winning the K-Pop India Contest.
Her appearances at music events throughout her tour, including the Kohima Hornbill Festival and the Imphal Indo-Korean Music Festival, were well welcomed. Techi made her acting debut in the 2014 film Stranger in My Land, in addition to singing. Her debut song 'Only you', was released on 27 May 2014. Indihut describes her debut single as "A song which gives you a rush of bliss and bubbles popping in your hearts". On February 27, 2015, her second single, 'Black and White,' was released. Boby also made her feature film debut in 2017 with Orunasol Man, a superhero action thriller.
