Chitra Tripathi is an Indian television news anchor, journalist, script-writer, and producer. She received a letter from the Indian Army for one of her stories and is also known to have received a gold medal as an NCC Cadet at a Republic Day Parade in Delhi. One of her notable feats includes covering a story about a village in Uttar Pradesh where the residents did not have electricity for years.
Her laudable work enabled the villagers to receive electricity within three days. She currently works for the popular Hindi news channel ‘AajTak’ as the Deputy Editor along with hosting a show named ‘DeshTak.’ She has acquired many awards for her work.
She was born on 11th May 1986 (currently 34 years old) in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, to a middle-class Hindu family as the oldest child of four children. She did her schooling in A.D. Govt. Girls Inter College in Gorakhpur. Tripathi attended the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University after that, where she attained a post-graduate degree in Defence Studies.
She initially wanted to join the Indian Army but decided to pursue journalism after starting a career in a Doordarshan center in Gorakhpur. She has worked for Sahara India and went on to move to Delhi since which she has worked for many reputed platforms like India News, News 24, ETV Network, and ABP News. Since 2016, she has hosted several shows along with working for ABP News. On 11th February 2019, she resigned from her post in ABP news to work for ‘AajTak.’
On 23 November 2008, Tripathi married her long term boyfriend, Atul Agarwal, who is also a news anchor. Although the couple had problems in 2016 after Tripathi filed a complaint of domestic violence against Agarwal, they managed to work it out. They have a son, Aum. Tripathi’s hobbies include traveling, reading, cooking, and working out at the gym. She currently resides in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with her family.
