Vidya Sinha was married to Venkateshwaran Iyer in the year 1968 and gave birth to her daughter Jahnvi in 1989. She left acting to take care her family. In 1996, her husband died due to prolonged illness. She remarried an Australian doctor Netaji Bhimrao Salunke in 2001, but later on divorced him.
On persuasion of her daughter, she restarted her acting career as a television actress in 2000. She played Kavya’s grandmother Sharmila Nanda, in Ekta Kapoor’s romantic television drama Kkavyanjali. In Sahara One’s serial Neem Neem Shahad Shahad, she appeared as Hansmukh’s wife. In 2009, she played a senior maid servant Bui in the serial Sajan Ghar Jana Hai, which aired on Star Plus.
