Smita Maroo is the senior vice-president of the animation division and producer in the Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd. She's working with the Shermaroo Entertainment since 2002 and has nine years of experience in the industry. She was schooled from St. Joseph's Convent School in the year 1987-1990. She has done her Masters degree in Finance from the Mithibai College, University of Mumbai and also a Masters in MIS (Management Information System) from the Nova Southeastern University, U.S.A.
Despite her education in management she still decided to pursue her childhood dreams and walk towards the world of cinema. She's working with Shermaroo since 2002. From 2002-2005 she worked under E-commerce, home video decision and film production. Her present working scenario with Shemaroo as Licensing & Merchandising Sub-division (2013-present), Animation Head (2005-present) and Marketing Head (2012-present). She knows Hindi, English, Marathi, Gujarati and Kutchi.
Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd. is the content house ranging various activities like aggregation and distribution, content ownership, etc. Shemaroo is connected with multiple distribution channels and providing content for satellite channels, technologies like the Internet, mobile, broadband, etc. It is the most emerging and likable content house in the country. It is one of the biggest content aggregators and distributors in Bollywood industry and also famous for CGI animated films.

Her total annual salary is Rs. 2,852,000 and including all the short and long-term compensation it becomes approximately Rs. 2,983,000. She believes that the Indian animated market is underrated and still needs to be developed and explored.
Currently, there are 64% of the total population is below 34 years and the literacy rate among the age group between 15-20 years is 80%. Overall the contribution of animated movies in the film industry is merely less or equal to 1%. With so many citizens in the young age group, there is greater scope for the animation scene in India to grow. Also, she believes whether it is any economic condition (boom or recession), people need and want entertainment at any place at any time. So entertainment industry has a potential to grow.
