Hindi Politician Ajit Pawar

Ajit Anantrao Pawar is an Indian politician. He was born on 22nd July 1959, in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, and is the current Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He represents the Baramati constituency in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Apart from having the post of Deputy Chief Minister, he is also the Finance Minister of Maharashtra.

Ajit Pawar hails from the village of Katevadi in Pune. He is nephew to Sharad Pawar Sharad Chandra Govindrao Pawar, generally known as >> Read More... , the Nationalist Congress Party President. Pawar completed his schooling in Maharashtra. He had to drop out of his graduation because of his father’s untimely death.

Sharad Pawar was already a rising political figure in the ruling Congress party at the time Ajit was pursuing his primary education. He moved to Mumbai for further education. His entry into politics started with his election to the board of a cooperative sugar factory in 1982, after which he was elected chairman of the Pune District Co-operative Bank (PDC) in 1991. During this tenure, he also got elected as an MP, Lok Sabha from the Baramati, though he vacated his seat in the Lok Sabha in favor of his uncle who had then become the defense minister in PV Narasimha Rao’ government.

After all this, Pawar became an MLA of Maharashtra from Baramati. In the tenures of 1995,1999, 2004, and 2014, Pawar was re-elected from the same constituency. He became the Minister of State for Agriculture and Power in June 1991 in Sudhakarrao Naik’s government.

He also served as the Minister of State for Soil Conservation, Power, and Planning in 1992 November. He got promoted to Cabinet Minister, firstly in the Irrigation Department. Following the return to power on Congress-NCP in 2004, he kept the Water Resources Ministry in Deshmukh's government and later in Ashok Chavan’s government. He held the post of Guardian Minister for Pune for ten years since 2004. He also became the Deputy CM with the shortest tenure, a tenure of just 80 hours in 2019.
