Satyaki Ghosh was born in a Bengali middle-class family. Satyaki got his initial understanding of photography from him. He studied at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. While studying, he assisted his mentor and ace photographer Jyotish Chakraborty. But he started his professional career on the film sets of Satyajit Ray's film Ghare Bhaire (Home and the World), which won an Honorary Oscar Award.
Satyaki is very interested in people photography. The pictures captured by him reflect reality, which helps in connecting with the audience on a deeper level. His photographs have appeared in many international magazines and received many international awards including PX3 and Spiders. His work has also been appreciated by many great critics like Henri Cartier-Bresson.
He has worked as a professional photographer in many advertisements and magazines but, he likes to capture the expressions of humans in photography. He has the skill to present the human story from a different perspective by combining art and emotions. He was nominated for the BLACK & WHITE Spider Awards in which he won the first prize. He also won the Grand Prix Winners Campaign Spikes Asia 12, 2009 for participating in the Teach India Campaign.
