Vittal Mallya was the first Indian director of United Breweries Group an Indian group which showed attention in beverage alcohol, infrastructure, real estates, and fertilizers. A year later he became the chairperson of United Breweries Group. After Vittal becoming the chairperson he got married to Lalitha Ramaiah which was later changed to Lalitha Mallya. Lalitha was born in Kolkata. After some few years of marriage, Lalitha moved to Bangalore with her husband and son Vijay Mallya. In 1983, Lalitha lost her husband Vittal Mallya, who died due to a heart attack.

After her husband's death, Lalitha’s son Vijay Mallya took the company and became the chairperson of UB Group. Lalitha as a mother was a strict but a calm and supportive one. She is the one who is mainly responsible for the success of Vijay Mallya. Lalitha has not just been a supportive mother but has even brought her child with good morals and religious values. Whenever Vijay gets a new jet, his priority is to get blessings from the Tirupati temple and the jet to be blessed by the priests. Now a day’s Lalitha is staying in London.
