Sanket Naik

Sanket Naik is a master percussionist noted for smoothly blending global instruments with traditional South Asian drumming. Sanket's approach seamlessly spans the breadth of three percussionists on stage with the tabla, djembe, and Cajon. Sanket has developed a trademark style that combines Eastern aesthetics and Western sensibilities, thanks to his lyrical voice and innovative tabla bol (vocal percussion). Sanket began studying tabla with his instructor, Pradeep Dixit, and as a pupil began accompanying Hindustani classical singer Smt. Kishori Amonkar, patron of the Jaipur Gharana, during her practice sessions. Sanket spent four years with Kishoritai before forming FOULA, a fusion, and world music band.

Sanket travelled Europe with FOULA and experienced a wide diversity of music, which aided his development as a global percussionist. Music director Naik has worked on films such as Vakratunda Mahakaaya and Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster. He also played Percussion and Backing Vocals in the 2014 film Filmistaan. Sanket joined Nakshatra, a Hindi rock band, as a percussionist in 2003 and contributed to their debut album, "Gulfaam" (Universal Music). Sanket began assisting Monty Sharma, a well-known Bollywood composer, and a year later, and made his debut in the industry.
