Musicians – Sanjeev and Ashwani Shankar are two of those gems of the Indian music society who have bought glories for the country through their exceptional performance in the field of music. They are great shehnai players.

The music instrument 'shehnai' traces its existence back from the Vedic era, being the oldest and purest musical instrument; it demands perfection while playing. These musicians have excelled in the art of playing shehnai.

The duo belongs to a family of 'Banaras Gharana', a family of musicians who have a singing legacy of at least 450 years back. The family had played musical instruments such as flute and shehnai. T

hey were fortunate enough to learn the art from their grandfather, Pt. Anant Lal. They are the heroes of the traditional art of music, with exceptional understanding of Sur, Lay, and Taal and excellent academic performance. Shri Ashwani is a graduate from Political Science, whereas Shri Sanjeev is a post-graduate in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music.

After the post-graduation, he is currently researching for the degree of M.Phill. They have also received an award for their excellent performances. They received 'Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puruskar for the year 2009 for their exceptional hand over Hindustani Instruments. The duo has always impressed the audience with their performance not only in India but worldwide.

They have performed in the USA, France, Spain, Scotland, Japan, etc. The duo also has produced work or the movie, "Letters from Rishikesh," the movie was produced for National Television of Israel. Shri Sanjeev has also produced music with honorable Swami Dayanand Ji for the album o devotional songs for Jains.

Their performance has always been cherished by the people as they are a medium of keeping the 'Hindustani music' alive in the era of pop and remix.
