Shilpi Marwaha is a theatre and film actress. She is an expert in the field of street play. Throughout her career, she has given more importance to street plays. She believes that through street plays, you get a chance to interact with people and create awareness. She has been a part of 500+ street plays and has done a variety of roles. Shilpi has gone through a lot of difficulties. She lost her mother when she was 8 and was brought up by her father. She lost her mother in a Government Hospital because there were no doctors to attend her. This incident affected her hugely. Most of her street plays are based on a medical emergency situation. She never took part in street plays during her school days. She started taking part in it only after joining the college. Her talent was identified by her mentor Arvind Gaur. She has taken part in 35+ major street plays with Asmita Theatre group.

Most of their street plays are based on social issues like corruption, atrocities, women rights and women violence, gender issues, domestic worker, a street vendor, Drugs, female foeticide and child education. Shilpi recently started acting in solo plays. Her first solo play was a “Woman Alone”, which was directed by Arvind Gaur. Shilpi has achieved all this at the age of 25.

Popularised by her role as Rashmi in the movie 'Raanjhanaa', Shilpi Marwaha is an Indian theatre and cinema actor. A post graduate in commerce from the Kamla Nehru College of the University of Delhi, he had always been into theatre and had taken part in some stage plays and street plays as a student. 

She is renowned for her social activism through street plays. 

Her career as a theatre artist started in Delhi with her joining the Asmita Theatre Group under the acclaimed theatre director 'Arvind Gaur'. She has been a part of the group for the past seven years and has acted in many plays under the direction of Mr. Gaur. She is now an important part of the theatre group, not only acting in the plays but also coordinating theatre workshops.

 She went on to be a part of more than 35 street plays with the Asmita Theatre Group, each play based on the  pressing social issues of corruption, gender inequality, child labour, domestic violence, drugs, female foeticide, etc., She has also been an active member of the women’s safety movement, anti-corruption movement and raise voice for domestic workers etc.,

After being a major part of  plays like Bertolt Brecht’s Ramkali: The Good Person of Szechwan, popular writer Mahesh Dattani’s Final Solutions and 30 days in September, Dario Fo’s adaptation ‘Operation Three Star’, Govind Purushottam Deshpande’s Raastey, 'Mahesh Bhatt’s 'The Last Salute' '(written by Rajesh Kumar) and many more, Shilpi Marwaha graced the world of Bollywood with her portrayal of the character of Rashmi in the movie 'Raanjhanaa', released in 2013, where she acted alongside popular actors like Abhay Deol Abhay Deol is an actor and director of the TV indu >> Read More... , Dhanush, Sonam Kapoor, etc.,

She made her entry into the cine field with the Malayalam movie Bhoomiyude Avakashikal(2012), directed by T.V.Chandran.
