Roohi Berde was a Marathi and Bollywood actress, who was popular for her character roles. She was born Padma in Mumbai. All the films carried her name as Roohi. After marrying actor, Laxmikant Berde, she was credited as Roohi Berde and was credited Padma Berde in the Marathi film, Mumbai Te Mauritius in 1991. She was popular for playing in the 1973 film, Aa Gale Lag Ja as the sister of Shatrughan Sinha. She was very popular in the mid-70s and 80s. After getting married, she concentered on character roles. Laxmikant started getting good roles in the mid-80s and Roohi was seen in many of his films. She was the one, who shaped up the character of Laxmikant, and the actor, who was popular for his roles in Hindi with Salman Khan in Maine Pyaar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Koun, credited his success to Roohi.
After the success of Aa Gale Lag Ja, Roohi played in Pandu Hawaldar in 1975. She shared the screen space with Lata Arun and Usha Chavan in the directorial venture of Dada Kondke. In 1976, she played the role, Sudha Godbole in Aaram Haram Aahe. She played the role of Suman in Agar… If in 1977. In 1978, she was seen in Dost Asava Tar Asa and Azaad. She had also been a part of Duniya Kari Salaam, Sundara Satarkar, Satichi Punyayee, Bezubaan, Galli Te Dilli, Zulf Ke Saye Saye, Asha Jyoti, Zakhmi Wagin, Mumbaicha Fauzdar, Lek Chalali Sasarla, Mazhe Ghar Mazha Sansar, Dhakti Sun, Khatyal Sasu Nataal Soon and Mamla Porincha.
In 1989, she played in Nasti Aafat, a TV Mini-series with her husband, Laxmikant Berde. It also had Ravidra Berde, Viju Khote, Avinash Kharshikar, and Pradeep Patwardhan in the cast. From 1991 to 1997, she was seen in Ek Full Chaar Half, Doctor Doctor, Bandal Baaz, Aparadhi, Chikat Navra, Hum Do Bundlebaaz, and Kama Majya Baikochi. On 5th April 1998, she died in Mumbai due to cancer.
