Padmarani is a famous name in Gujarati plays and films. She was born in a Marathi family on November 25, 1937. Brought up in Vadodara, Gujarat, she was never served in a silver spoon. She began to perform on stages to help her family during their economic hardship. She pursued her primary education from Govindrao Central school, Dandiya Bazar, Vadodara. She has performed over 6000 Gujarati theatre shows.

She was the lead actress of many famous plays like Baa Retire Thai Chhe, Baa E Maari Boundary, Kevda Na Dankh, Sastapadi, Chandarwo, 5 star Aunty and Vachan. Even in the final years of her life, she played lead maternal role. Her last play was believed to be Amari To ArjeeBaki Tamari Marjee.
