Lakshmi R Iyer

Lakshmi R.Iyer is an entertaining multitasker and indulges everything from being an actor, director to producer. Lakshmi Ranganathan Iyer popularly known as Lakshmi R.Iyer was born and raised in Delhi. Lakshmi, being the youngest of 5 siblings, completed her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya in 2000 and went on to pursue her Bachelors in Commerce. Coming from a conservative South Indian family, media was never a choice of career for her. Lakshmi, being a topper all her life was expected to end up as a CA. But somewhere in her heart, she didn’t find CA to be her true calling.

Initially, she took up some modeling assignments and did commercials and print shoots.  Lakshmi started making money out of modeling and in 2008 she gave her first acting audition in Mumbai.  However, in the process of becoming an actor, she faced a lot of hardships when four out of her five films got shelved.  But none of the struggles made her backed down.

In the meantime, she gained knowledge about various other departments in filmmaking like direction and production.  Lakshmi Iyer worked as an assistant director in the Kannada film Private Number and also choreographed a song in the film.  She was also a part of the film, Policegiri directed by K.S.Ravikumar.  

In 2017, Lakshmi Iyer started her own production house Street Smart Productions. As a person who is extremely connected to her father, Lakshmi made a short film namely APPA in 2017. The film talked about the story of a single father and an adopted daughter.  Lakshmi acted in the short film along with writing, producing and directing. She describes the film as a tribute to her father. Her second venture came out in 2018, the short film Wrong Mistake. As like her previous work, Lakshmi acted, produced, directed and wrote the film. Besides film making, Lakshmi worked as a Marketing and Communications Consultant in a company in Dubai. 

Lakshmi R.Iyer grabbed the eyeballs of the audience with the short film Seasoned with Love in the year 2019. The short film became a huge hit with more than 65 million views on YouTube.  In 2019, Lakshmi co-produced the British-Indian Historical political thriller film The Gandhi Murder.

From modeling to acting to directing, Lakshmi R.Iyer has owned it all with her talent without giving much attention to the setbacks.
