He was born on January 17th in the year 1962 in the city of Mumbai in Maharashtra. He was born into one of the biggest and most successful family in the history of Bollywood cinema industry, the Kapoors. He was born as the grandson to
Prithviraj Kapoor, one of the most important figures in the history of Hindi theater. He was born as a nephew to Bollywood legends,
Shammi Kapoor, and Raj Kapoor.
His mother’s family was also involved actively with British theater. Born into a family full of stars and people so actively involved with acting, Karan was also expected to make his mark in the industry. In the year 1978, he made his acting debut in the film, ‘
Junoon’ by Shyam Benegal.
He later appeared as ‘Davie’ in the film ’36 Chowringhee Lane’ in the year 1981 which was made by his father, Shashi Kapoor. He later appeared in a few movies like ‘Sultanat’ in 1986 where he played ‘Samir’, ‘Loha’ in 1987 and the year 1988, in ‘
Afsar’. He appeared in a few television serials. In the year 1984, he appeared in the British TV series, ‘The Jewel In The Crown’ as ‘Colin Lindsey’.
His foreign features limited his career and acted as a factor which restrained him from receiving offers in Bollywood movies. He later left behind acting and started to follow his passion which was photography. He moved to England and settled in London in the city of Chelsea with his family including Lorna, his wife, and children, Aliya and Zak. He received the International Photography Awards in the year 2009 for ‘Old Couple’ one of his best works in photography.
