Malina Joshi is a multi talented supermodel and actress working in the Nepali film industry. Born on 27th January 1989 in Dharan, Nepal, Malina completed her schooling from Dharan Higher Secondary School and she later on went ahead to complete her MBA degree in Marketing from Ace Institute of Management in Nepal. She really had no intentions in getting into a regular job, and during her college days started to do freelance modeling. She started her career as a model and then appeared in numerous print shoots for magazines.
Later on, her beauty and amazing model-fit attitude was noticed by designers and she started getting offers for doing ramp walks for designers. In 2010, Malina was featured in the top 5 contestants of Miss Angel competition. Later in the next year is when her life completely changed, when she won the Miss Nepal award in 2011. For the final round, she was asked a question about women’s empowerment, she was asked whether she thinks th world would be a better place in 2050 if women rule the world, her answer was that she thought women are already ruling the world, and if given the same amount of opportunities, women.
The judges were highly impressed by this answer and hence this led to Malina winning the competition. Malina is also a very talented and highly trained classical and Nepalese folk dancer. She has been the face of many brands like Asian Paints Nepal and Dish TV Nepal among many others. In 2014, she made her debut on the silver screen in Ritu, a romantic drama film about a couple who have to protect their love against all odds. 2 years later, she appeared in a social thriller film based on the violence faced by Nepalese women.
The film was called Jhumkee. Her latest film was The Winner, released in 2017, another political thriller based on the crime organizations of Nepal. Some other films she acted in were Rani and she has many times hosted a number of TV game shows. Malina also actively works as a social welfare personality, she has regularly pushed for the awareness of HIV AIDS among Nepali youth, and apart from this she has actively advocated for women’s rights in Nepal. Malina also had a Youtube channel, where she used to put out many funny and popular vlogs with her ex-boyfriend.
