A hidden gem, Amrik Singh Shera, the lyricist of the most popular party anthem, 'Kala Chashma.’ He was raised in Talwandi Chaudhrian village near Jalandhar, Punjab. He is 43 years old, and is the head constable in Kapurthala. He was fond of writing songs since childhood and he wrote the lyrics of 'Kala Chashma' and 'Aaja ni Aaja Tenu Nachna Sikha Deya' when he was in ninth standard, in 1990. Both were first sung and recorded in London. Local VIPs added these songs to an album, Dark Angel which became very popular and an instant hit in the nation.
This was a turning point in his life. In 2007, the song was featured in a Punjabi film, Kaun kise da Bali. The nation's favorite song, ‘Kaala Chashma’ discovered a hidden talent and had a long history of 27 years before entering Bollywood. The music was originated in Punjab which is now a part of the soundtrack of Baar Baar Dekho (2016). He has gained recognition for his music, after a long span. Shera is writing new songs which will be releasing soon. ‘Virsa Punjab Da', a compilation of 150 songs written by Shera on various societal issues, is also all set to release.
