Shyam Bora is an Indian line producer working in Hindi and Assamese films and is from Assam, India. He did his graduation in Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2007, and later pursued Master’s in Media and Communication /Audio-Visual Communication in 2011. Later, he also studied in Busan Asian Film School and attended a six-month residency program and at NAFF Fantastic Film School in Genre film production, education, and network program for emerging filmmakers. He has gained several experiences over time which include his positions as a Business Analyst in Evalueserve from 2008-2009, as an Assistant producer in Oasis Television Pvt. Ltd. from 2011-2013, as a produced and assistant producer in Jungle Book Entertainment in 2013 and in Recyclewala films in 2014.
In Recyclewala production house he worked on the movies Tumbbad, released in 2018, Ship of Thesseus in 2013, which had a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the Best Feature Film Awards at 61st National Awards in 2013, and Gulabi Gang Click to look into! >> Read More... in 2014, which was a winner of Best Film on Social Issues and Non-Feature Film Editing at the 61st National Awards 2013. Under Jungle Book Entertainment production company, he worked on a feature film ‘ Angry Indian Goddesses Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ released in 2015 that won the Grolsch People’s Choice Award in the Toronto International Film Festival, the BNL People’s Choice Award in the Rome Film Festival 2015, the Audience Award at Indian Film Festival Stuttgart in 2016, Audience Award in Long Beach LGBT Film Festival in 2016, Special Jury Award in Image Out Rochester LGBT Film Festival in 2016, Best Film at Likho Awards for Excellence in Media in Mumbai in 2016. In 2013 he became the co-founder and a producer in the production house, Metanormal Motion Pictures.
In Metanormal, they produced the first globally licensed Netflix film in the Assamese language called ‘Kothanodi.’ It was premiered at Busan International Film festival and recived the Indian National Film Award for Best regional Film in Assamese. With excellent skills in film-making and producing Shyam Bora continues on several globally recognized projects.
