Hayatullah Ansari is an Indian journalist. He was born in 1912 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. He completed his graduation from Aligarh University. He became influenced by Gandhian philosophy. He also served at Sevagram Gandhi Ashram. He became an editor for the Congress party’s official newspaper, Qaumi Awaz. His newspaper was one of the most influential Urdu newspapers at that time. He founded All India Talem ghar to teach teachers in Urdu in 1938. He was also an author of various short stories. His first short story was Jamia, published in 1930. Following the release of the first short story, he published Bhare Bazar Mei, another Musibat, and Shikasta Kagure and Aakhiri Koshish.
His stories became popular in no time among the people at that time. He released his novel on the freedom struggle in Urdu named Lahoo Ke Phool. His novel Lahoo Ke Phool received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1970. He served as a member of the legislative assembly in Uttar Pradesh. Then, In 1982, he served as a member of parliament. He served as a member of Rajya Sabha till 1988. He was an influential figure in British India and worked prominently for India’s freedom struggle. He died at the age of 87 in 1999.
