Abhisar Sharma is a distinguished Journalist. He was born on 13 August 1972 in New Delhi. His wife, Sumana Sen is an income tax officer. He completed his primary education at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tagore Garden, New Delhi. Furthermore, he pursued a diploma in Journalism at Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi, and pursued the BBC Chemical and Biological Radiation Course at Punjab University, Chandigarh. Apart from studies, he actively participated in various debate competitions and won many accolades for his excellence. Initially, he freelanced for All India Radio, The Observer, and Hindustan Times. In 1995, he worked as a trainee reporter at India’s first independent news and current affairs magazine, Newstrack.
In 1996, he worked as an Assistant Producer at B.A.G Films, which is one of the topmost production houses in India and deals with producing entertainment-based programs, news, and current affairs programs. He worked as a reporter at Zee TV News for four years. Initially, he covered topics like wildlife issues and afterwards went over to cover the political issues and parliament beat. Apart from that, he also anchored the Prime-Time News Bulletins. In 1999, he joined BBC Bush House, London where he produced five news and current affairs programs aired at different times on a day. He also worked as a producer and efficiently handled the weekly science and development programs.
He got posted with BBC Delhi Bureau in 2001, he worked there for newsgathering and field visits to do report packages, and other special programs. In 2003, he worked as a journalist at NDTV, where he conceptualized “ Gustakhi Maaf Gustakhi Maaf is a political satire show which sta >> Read More... ,” India’s first half-hour satire. He also covered international affairs for the channel. Where he got a chance to travel to different countries during essential events like Vajpayee’s visit to China, Bangladesh, Russia, and US Presidential elections. In 2007, he started working at TV Today as a deputy editor, and worked with them for over five years. Later, he switched to Zee Network as an editor for around six months. In 2013, he joined ABP News as an anchor and worked consistently. In 2018, he decided to be a freelance journalist and worked as a ground reporter. During this he anchored big shows including Newsclick, and HW News.
Abhisar is also a prominent writer, he wrote four novels, and is also writing a feature film and a web series. Books written by him include “The Kaafir’s Love,” “The Eye of the Predator,” “A Hundred Lives for You,” and “The Edge of the Machete.” Additionally, he is also a voiceover artist who specialises in documentary and corporate voice overs. He has strong media and communication skills in journalism, news writing, current affairs, films, and magazines. In 2008, he won the “Ramnath Goenka Memorial Foundation Award” for excellence in the field of journalism. In 2017, his work “Operation Laal Jungle” was awarded as best story on human rights 2016, and he won the “Red Ink Trophy.”
