Dr. Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju is one of Karnataka’s first transgender women doctors. She interned at Manipal’s Kasturba Medical College and is known for being a content creator. She is a proud LGBTQ rights activist. She creates awareness about gender, sexuality, bullying, mental health, queerphobia, and challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. Although she was fascinated by medicines, she had other reasons for becoming a doctor. When she came to know how health care works for the transgender community in India, she realized that there was a gaping hole which needed to be repleted. The health care provided by the government for LGBTQ community, like gender-affirming surgery, gender-affirming therapy, psychological counseling, dermatological services, etc.,
was not even bare enough for them, she took the initiative to step forward and help the people. She is also a part of the Forbes 30 under 30 class of 2022 and will appear in a web series. At the age of 21, Gummaraju underwent a gender affirmation surgery and documented her journey on social media platforms. A little-known fact about Trinetra is that she is interested in sketching and painting. Before owning the name Trinetra she was Angad Gummaraju. Trinetra the three eyes, or another name for Shakti or the divine female energy is what she aspires to be.
