Pammi Somal

Pammi Somal is an Indian filmmaker and journalist working in Hindi film and entertainment industry. She was born on 3 October 1955 in Chandigarh, Punjab. She did her schooling from Carmel Convent School in Chandigarh. She has a Master’s degree in sociology from Punjab University. Later she pursued diplomas in Mass Communications from Oxford College and Creative Writing at Indira Gandi National Open University. She also has a Master’s degree in Reiki, Silva Mind Method and Law of Attraction. She has gained several experiences since the 1980s by freelancing in Journalism and writing. She has worked as a writer and producer for Libra Creations, as an Assistant Editor in Cine Blitz, Editor and Publisher for Scenario Media Ltd.,

President of Business Development for Interaa Group of Companies, Managing Director for Creative Steps Productions Pvt. Ltd. She has more than 25 years of experience in journalism, scripting stories, screenplays, production, direction and dialogues. She worked for many shows including Ardhangini in 1994, Sanam in 1996, Neeyat in 1999, Siski in 2001, Kasauti, Hare Kaanch Ki Chudian in 2001, Naqaab in 2000, Rishtey, Naata in 2002 and Muskurahat in 2002, The Perfect Husband in 2002 which was broadcasted in channels like ZEE TV, Doordarshan, 9 Gold, STAR PLUS, and many more. Her telefilm ‘The Perfect Husband’ was screened at the CANNES Film Festival in 2004.

She has written for publications like ShowTime, Stardust, Bombay Times, India Abroad, Cine Blitz, Savvy, Filmfare, Star & Style, New Woman, Movie, Women’s Era, Cuisine, Indian Express, Eve’s Weekly, Mid-Day, Tan, Debonair, G Magazine, The Tribune, Afternoon, Blitz, and many more. Café Celeb was her self-established magazine in 2003. She started her own production company in 2006 called ‘Creative Steps.’ Her other works on films include Mummy Punjabi: Superman Ki Bhi Maa!! released in 2011, Na Jaane Kabse in 2011, Mummy Ji in 2007, and many more. As a multitalented woman her skills have brought her significant recognition and she continues to work on scripts and books.
